I’ve enjoyed the process of learning to use Substack as the venue for my communication and for sharing with readers, listeners and viewers all from the same platform. For me the only downside has been the bifurcated nature of it . . . When I write, or do a podcast or share some of my latest images. I don’t want to hold back anything. I want to communicate fully with the people who care about what we are sharing with one another. To me, the challenge of being a complete person involves emptying myself onto the pages completely, not engaging in a game of cutting the loaf in half and inviting the subscriber to pay a tribute for the rest of the loaf.
I don’t begrudge those who find that the process works for them. I have to admit that I envy them even, though I regret that I myself am often unable to partake of what surely is their even more profound wisdom hidden in the mist . . . just beyond the paywall.
So, I have not succumbed to the temptation of engaging myself in the traditional process. As grateful as I am to those who have still made the generous sacrifice of becoming a premium subscriber, I don’t want to deny others the opportunity to read, view or listen, to what I have created, Yet, I can’t help but feel that I am depriving them of what is rightfully their due. I hope that what follows will begin to make up for that.
Sam Harris resolves this dilemma by offering “scholarships” for those who can’t afford the cost of subscribing. I have chosen a different approach that entitles everyone to all the content and simply adds a “thank you” gift for those who choose to subscribe at a premium level.
From today forward I will thank every premium subscriber with a signed original piece of art from my body of work annually. I have created a gallery of images for you to choose from here. You need only look through the images, choose the one that speaks to you and send me an email to let me know what you have chosen. I will send you a signed original of the image you have chosen. In order to put all the choices into a gallery I have created it on my FineArtAmerica.com site. Be sure to order it ONLY by sending me an email with your selection. If you order it directly from the website you will be charged for it!
Gratefully,
Wayne
