Poetry Month at the Bradford VT Public Library
Here in our small confederation of communities, we have breached the walls of tribalism in many ways. One of those ways is with our libraries. The most successful libraries in New Hampshire and Vermont are not those that are merely a repository for books, gathering dust on their shelves. The most successful libraries are those that call us together in community. Where french groups meet for lunch, where art is shared and exhibited, where authors share their ideas, books and knowledge with the community. This month the Bradford, VT public Library, one such library has asked local folks to submit poetry to them for a celebration of National Poetry month.
The poets range from second graders to old bucks like me and rather than exhibiting the poems on the walls of the library the Bradford Library is spreading the word (and the words) around the area, posting the poems where people congregate . . . meeting one another where we are. Here are the three poems that I provided.
You can see all of the poems chosen here.
